The South Texas VA Healthcare System (STVAHCS) is actively recruiting to fill Board Certified Staff Cardiologist (BE considered) to help care for our Veterans – American’s Heroes. Selected candidate will be considered for a faculty appointment at the UT Health San Antonio (UTHSA) & be involved with education & teaching of Cardiology residents in our residency program plus medical students, medicine residents & other providers. The STVAHCS is located at San Antonio is the “Flagship” for the South Texas VA Health Care System (STVAHCS), is a Joint Commission accredited, referral level 1b/high complexity, 268 bed facility serving more than 97,000 Veterans in southern Texas, including the rapidly expanding metropolitan San Antonio area. You are invited to consider joining the team of the San Antonio VA Healthcare Center and University of Texas Health Science Center, providing care for the world’s best patients while providing training and mentorship for fellows, residents, and students. You should be board certified/eligible in Cardiology and a US citizen with current US licensure (any state) with no history of revocations or suspension. Permanent Residents may be considered if no US citizen is selected.
As a care giver and clinician educator, you should have outstanding general cardiology skills combined with a passion for teaching and scholarship. Previous post-training academic experience and a history of publication in peer-reviewed cardiology journals is preferred. This position includes both inpatient and outpatient activity and the opportunity to teach learners at all levels (students, residents, and fellows). You will spend most of your time in direct patient care and the supervision of medical residents and cardiology fellows in inpatient/outpatient settings and the Cath lab. At least two to five years of experience is preferred.
Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday, (May be required to work evenings or weekends as a 24/7 Full-Time Physician).
Must be U.S. Citizen – Non-US Citizens may be considered
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the U.S.
Board Certification in Cardiology preferred, but Board Eligibility may also be considered
