Work Schedule: Monday - Friday. 8:30am - 4:30pm. Management reserves the ability to change schedule for facility needs. The Cardiologist physician is assigned to the Cardiology Section of Medicine Service, VA Central California Healthcare System (VACCHCS). VA provides patient centered care, delivered by engaged, collaborative teams in an integrated environment that supports learning and continuous improvement. The Veteran's experience and health outcomes are improved with an emphasis on prevention through healing relationships in an optimal healing environment. The full-time Cardiologist physician must have outstanding clinical and interpersonal skills as a member of the VA professional health care team, and providing continuous veteran-centered care for a variety of medical ailments. This care includes but is not limited to assessment, diagnosis, treatment, laboratory, imaging tests, and follow-up evaluations, and management of all patients with cardiac diseases according to standard, usual and acceptable or customary methods and techniques. Duties will include day-to-day care of veteran patients, both in the inpatient and outpatient settings. Duties to include: Works closely with all healthcare professionals throughout VACCHCS, and provides consultations to other services. Participates in quality assurance programs and chart reviews. Complies with all quality performance measures and improvement programs. The physician will be subject to professional performance, including clinical and technical skills, as well as VACCHCS performance improvement monitoring activities (e.g. Ongoing Professional Evaluations (OPPE), Focused Professional Practice Evaluations (FPPE), etc.). Cardiology on-call responsibilities will be shared with the other staff Cardiologists. Participates in Medical Staff committees and task forces. Participates in providing Quality Assurance oversight of contracts under the cognizance of the Cardiology Section of Medicine Service. This includes locum tenens physicians and VA patients sent to the contracted local community facilities. Perform other duties assigned by the Chief of Medicine and or Section Chief of Cardiology Participate in, and attend, CME activities and VA continuing educational activities
