Pediatric Interventional Cardiology – Senior Level

Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital (JDCH) is recruiting for a board certified pediatric cardiologist with specialty training and five plus years of experience in interventional catheterization for congenital heart disease to join the team and mentor junior team colleagues. This position has the potential for candidate to serve as Director of Catheterization Lab program and other leadership roles on the JDCH medical staff depending on the interest and experience of the applicant. Primary responsibilities will be for children and adults with congenital heart disease in need of cardiac catheterization and/or intervention. Catheterization volume has been steadily increasing and is expected to be approximately 450 cases in 2021. Procedures are primarily performed in a state of the art Toshiba biplane lab with 3D rotational angiography capability, with a separate lab for electrophysiology studies. All types of cutting edge procedures from transcatheter valves and investigational devices in children and adults to PDA closures in tiny premature babies are well established. Additional responsibilities will include related outpatient clinic evaluations, sharing inpatient night and weekend call and occasional coverage of the inpatient service. Candidate will participate in research opportunities with supportive resources.
The JDCH Heart Institute provides all aspects of congenital heart care from fetus to adult, including congenital heart surgery, interventional cardiology, electrophysiology and advanced imaging. The team also provides advanced heart failure treatment including medical therapies, acute and chronic mechanical circulatory support, and is the leading pediatric heart transplant program in South Florida. Our surgical program is considered a medium volume program by STS and consistently reports exceptional results in highly complex patients.
The faculty will include: three interventional cardiologists, three transplant cardiologists, two imaging cardiologists, two electrophysiologists, one inpatient cardiologist, and three pediatric cardiac surgeons.
The Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) program is an integral part of the JDCH Heart Institute and Memorial Cardio-and Vascular Institute (MCVI). The ACHD program is an accredited program directed by ACHD specialists with support by all other medical and surgical members of the pediatric heart team in addition to adult subspecialists.
Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital is part of Memorial Healthcare System which offers ample resources for academic pursuits, spanning from clinical research through to basic science investigation, via affiliations with nearby universities. The System received institutional ACGME accreditation in August 2015 and welcomed its first class of pediatric residents in 2018. This is a full-time employed position with the multispecialty Memorial Physician Group. The position offers competitive benefits and a compensation package that is commensurate with training and experience. Professional malpractice and medical liability are covered under sovereign immunity.
