The position is housed at the San Francisco VA Medical Center in the Pulmonary, Critical Care, Sleep Medicine Section, Medical Service of the San Francisco VA Health Care System. Major duties include, but are not limited to the following: Patient education on positive pressure therapy for sleep apnea Appropriate device set up for patients: CPAP, BiPAP, ASV Assisting patients in determining the best interface for them to use their device Interrogating devices through download of data to assist providers in therapeutic adjustments Work with patients to replace masks, hoses, and filters, along with any other disposable equipment, as needed Scoring sleep studies, primarily home sleep studies, but also cardiopulmonary studies, and full polysomnographic studies during which electroencephalograms (EEGs), electrooculograms (EOGs), and electromyograms (EMGs) have been monitored.
