Description The Program in Public Health (PPH) in collaboration with the Department of Neurology in the Renaissance School of Medicine, seek to hire, engage, and mentor one Promoting Recruitment, Opportunity, Diversity, Inclusion and Growth plus (PRODIG+) Fellow with biostatistics training/background who can help catalyze our campus' commitment to inclusive solutions-driven research and scholarship with a particular research focus cognitive aging, brain aging, cognitive impairment, dementia, and/or trauma.

PRODiG Plus Fellows will engage in scholarship and teaching in clusters that represent key areas in Stony Brook's current and growing strengths, pedagogical advances, and service in the department of Neurology in the Renaissance School of Medicine and the broader Stony Brook campus.
PRODIG Plus Fellows are fully funded by SUNY for full-time non-tenure-track lecturer positions appointed on 12-month contracts at an annual salary of $80,000 with comprehensive state benefits. The successful candidate will commence in the Fall of 2026. Importantly, the fellow will be part of a mentored research environment intersecting public health, neurology, and the cognitive neuroscience of aging. The fellow will have a modest teaching load (during the two-year period, teaching load will be one course per calendar year in the PPH's MPH or PhD programs, which includes courses in advanced methods for content areas within a population health and/or clinical outcomes focused curriculum).
The fellow with successful performance and demonstrated equitable and inclusive teaching strategies focused on student success, will be invited to join the tenure-track faculty at Stony Brook University after two years at Stony Brook University in the Department of Neurology, with 50% of their time/effort contributed to PPH, through an internal promotion process.
The successful candidate must have demonstrated plans to study questions that integrate diverse populations or interrogate equity and inclusion at the individual level. They must also show excellence in innovative research and scholarship in epidemiology, biostatistics/quantitative methods, neurology and/or cognitive neuroscience and have the potential to contribute to the teaching and research mission of the PPH. The successful candidate will be expected to be an effective interdisciplinary teacher, a mentor at the graduate and doctoral levels to guide research and professional development, provide statistical consultation to Neurology faculty, and an active participant in community outreach activities. During their two-year appointment, the fellows will meet with university mentors who will facilitate faculty development and growth and will support them as their research progresses. Mentorship will center on paths to academic excellence and success as well as achieving Stony Brook's Mission and core values.

Qualifications Required Qualifications:
Eligible to work in the United States without a visa sponsorship.
Ph.D. (or foreign equivalent) or relevant terminal degree from an accredited institution completed prior to start date.
Background in Biostatistics, Statistics, or a related field, with a clear public health orientation.
Stated commitment to collaborative research in cognitive aging and/or the cognitive neuroscience of aging or dementia.
Demonstrate personal, academic, and/or work experience engaging with diversity, equity, and inclusion and/or a commitment to facilitating and enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts in the campus community. Such experience may include, but is not limited to, an academic/scholarly track record focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion; work, volunteer/unpaid/community service; or related experience/expertise in serving underserved or vulnerable areas and/ or populations.
Preferred Qualifications:
Mastery of advanced research methods including advanced statistical techniques and study design in the context of observational studies and clinical trials.
Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the development and application of statistical methodologies in the areas of brain aging/health, neurodegerative disease, cardiovascular disease; neuroimaging; clinical trials, and missing data, bias, confounding and/or causality.
Experience working on multidisciplinary, collaborative population health projects or clinical trials in brain aging/health or neurodegenerative disease areas.
Current SUNY students, alumni, and/or Fellows.
